Dear Partners in Every Way,
Shalom from Jerusalem. With all of the writing I have been doing during the war in Gaza, many of you must have thought I suddenly dropped out of sight. Nothing could be further from the truth. We received a call from our son after he crossed the border from Gaza on Sunday back into Israel. As he spoke to Batya he told us, "I am back home in Israel." What a sound of music that was to our ears as parents! When we were able to visit him, I never hugged him so much since the time he was in my arms as a baby. It was not too long before he started requesting his favorite snacks and of course ear plugs so he could finally get some good sleep for a change. Then he showed his heart of | Help Victims of Terrorism in Israel Today! Help Vision for Israel provide money vouchers to victims of terrorism in southern Israel. | compassion by asking for special winter clothing items for soldiers in his unit. What began as a request for about 30 guys has suddenly jumped to 100 soldiers in need of these personal items to keep them warm in the winter. We honestly didn't have time to share this with you as a request for financial assistance. We just started to buy whatever was available from the suppliers and we are not through distributing yet. We just love to provide things for others – purchasing what they need and then giving it all away – responsibly of course! It's fun to give and although we can never out give the Lord, it's sure a joy to try!
The facts on the ground so far are this:
13 soldiers and civilians were killed in the three weeks of fighting, four by rocket fire. Nine soldiers were killed in the ground offensive.
780 soldiers and civilians received hospital treatment over the course of the war, including many who were treated for shock and trauma. As of Sunday, 64 were still hospitalized; 51 soldiers and 13 civilians. Ten of the wounded are still listed in serious condition. Thirty-five families were left homeless as a result of direct rocket hits. I encourage you to click on the following link to see a news report from Sderot to better understand the realities that these families endure daily. http://jnnnews.com/tv5.html
Over 1,725 damage claims have been filed; these include apartments, homes and cars. Industry, schools and employment all over the south of Israel suffered great financial losses due to the daily rocket fire and war.
Just this last week Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse once again distributed additional medical supplies for two more hospitals and they will be returning soon for even more, after we finish packaging their orders.
However, the big task before us is to move forward with a money voucher project which will allow families and individuals to supplement their income, and buy whatever they need to provide for their families. These are the Israeli victims of terror, both Jews and Arabs alike, who have suffered from rocket attacks in Israel.
In one city I met a divorced mother of five children who is heart broken and she is just barely surviving. Others have had savings wiped out ...or are now facing bills that they do not have the means to pay. We can make a difference in their lives right now.
Please help Vision for Israel provide money vouchers of $100 or more to these precious families and individuals so that they have the financial resources to rebuild their lives. Your gift TODAY can make a difference in the lives of these victims of terrorism in Israel!
As we consider the needs of these families I am reminded of the words of our Lord and thus close with them, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." – Luke 6:38 (NKJ)
Be Blessed,
 Barry & Batya Segal
P.S. You may be wondering about all of the casualties in the Gaza Strip and their needs. Watch for our reports, I have made contact with an Arab Christian who is setting up a lifeline to help the Christian residents in Gaza as well.
Prayer for Israel Even though the conflict has ended, we can't let our guard down!
We must keep the soldiers in our prayers. We must keep in prayer all those civilians on both sides who have been affected by this fight. And we must keep praying over the volatile situation that keeps leading to conflict.
Now, Israel must rebuild – but at the same time, we must keep our spiritual weapons of warfare ready, much like Nehemiah and his men kept their physical weapons ready while working to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem…
"Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes." … Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. (Nehemiah 4:14, 17-18)
