Reporters no longer line the roads surrounding Gaza. Sounds of emergency sirens and explosions are replaced by a tenuous silence. Schools and businesses have reopened. Many shops remain devoid of customers. A lone reporter waits to see how long the “peace” will last.
Two days ago this “peace” lead to the death of one IDF soldier and serious injuries to three others as a bomb planted along a roadway exploded under their vehicle. Again last night as two more rockets were fired Into Israel, this “peace” sent children in S’derot to bed with the familiar sounds of “Tzeva Adom” (red alert) echoing through the streets.
Yesterday our Hands of Mercy Team met with five families in Soroka Hospital. We were struck by the strength and conviction expressed by the families that G-D will bring comfort and healing to their husbands and sons. For them the battle continues. Below is an update. Please join us in continued prayer and support for these soldiers and for Israel.
Yoel Hoshe’ah ben Miriam: When we visited Yoel during the first days of the war he was in Intensive Care. A heavy silence enveloped the waiting room where we met his family. No one wanted to speak. No one wanted to think about what had happened. Yoel was struck by shrapnel lodged in his brain. Unable to speak or move he has been kept in a medical coma. Yesterday he awoke from surgery where doctors removed the metal. He said to the doctor; “I must go home to my wife. She needs me”. He and Chagit were married less than a year ago and she has struggled greatly throughout these past weeks without him by her side. Yoel’s joyful father told us yesterday that his son has just been moved out of the ICU and into a recovery room. Another of G-D’s miracles!! Please pray for Yoel and his family.
Orel ben Angela: Orel, the seven year old boy who was injured by shrapnel in his head has regained movement in his hands and feet. His parents expressed great hope in Orel’s continued improvement. Thank you for your prayers.
Falch ben Nimer (father): Falch was one of the three injured soldiers in the truck bombing. Falac sustained serious injuries resulting in the loss of one of his legs. Although he is not awake doctors say he is in stable condition.
Dvir ben Leah: Dvir continues to remain in intensive care with no improvement. His family expressed their thanks for your love and prayers.
