Teitel deemed fit to stand trial
By: Aviad Glickman     03 Sep 2010
A psychiatric evaluation submitted to the Jerusalem District Court determined that "Jewish terrorist" Yaakov (Jack) Teitel, who was indicted for murdering Arabs and attempting to hurt Prof. Ze'ev Sterhell is fit to stand trial and was responsible for his actions, Ynet learned Monday. This evaluation contradicts an initial evaluation submitted to the court three months ago, which stated that Teitel's mental state may not allow for trial to proceed. He was later sent to a different hospital for another evaluation

Combating injustice in a democracy
Although the State of Israel is the only democracy within the Middle East, the nation is faced daily with the challenge to uphold the democratic nature upon which the state was founded. Tolerance, equality, and civil rights are at times exchanged for the sake of preserving the homogeneity of the Jewish people driven by a constant fear of extinction and reinforced by the pervasive ultra-religious establishment in Israeli society.

Update from the Schneiers
By: David & Leslye Schneier     31 Aug 2010
We are preparing to return to Paris and to move into our third apartment there in the past 3 years. Same building but on the 4th floor. Because we know that this central area of Paris is where the Lord wants us to be, we are excited about the plans the Lord has for us in this next season.  We hope you will keep in touch with us by writing us at schneiers@aol.com, or at our web site at www.messianicinitiative.org or commenting and joining our blog at www.closeupsfromfaraway.blogspot.com. Please keep us in prayer (our health, family and finances) as we seek His next steps for us. Please also pray for the relationships with Jewish people the Lord has led us to, for their openness to Yeshua and for the Lord to give us wisdom as we share our lives with them.

Hineni Ministry Newsletter
By: George Mirsadshanow     30 Aug 2010
Blessings to you all in the name of Yeshua!! We just returned from our 5th mission trip to Ukraine. As in previous trips, our plans were to visit as many orphanages and Holocaust survivors as possible. If the Lord had other plans, we were more than willing to follow His leading. We arrived in Odessa on March 30th exhausted from the 27 hour trip, but so excited and anxious to begin working. After a good night sleep, we began the first day visiting a Holocaust survivor and preparing for the first of 4 Seders that we would  participate in. The first Seder dinner was with a small group of Holocaust survivors.

Markell: Koran burning a bad idea
By: Chad Groening     30 Aug 2010
A Messianic Jewish leader and Israel supporter thinks it's absolutely ludicrous that a Florida church plans to go ahead with plans to burn Korans on the anniversary of 9/11. Earlier this summer, the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville announced its intention to burn Korans on church grounds to mark the anniversary of the Islamic terrorist attacks almost nine years ago. But The Gainesville Sun has reported that city officials have denied the church a permit, saying the open burning of books is not allowed under the city's burning ordinance. The interim fire chief reports that the church will be fined if it goes ahead with its plans, but Pastor Terry Jones says the event will take place without the city's permission.

Messianic Ministry Aids Pakistan Flood Victims
By: Adrienne S. Gaines     27 Aug 2010
A Messianic Jewish organization based in Jerusalem is organizing relief efforts for Pakistan, which has been facing the worst flooding in 80 years. Next month, the missions ministry Keren HaShlichut will go into Pakistan and help distribute food and supplies for victims of massive flooding that the United Nations estimates has affected nearly 14 million people. Although Pakistan is largely a Muslim country and considered by some to be an enemy of Israel, Keren HaShlichut director Gavriel Gefen said his organization is committed to showing Christ's love by serving those in other nations.

[ISRAELUPDATE] WND COMMENTARY
By: David Dolan     26 Aug 2010
I wanted to alert you all that I have a commentary posted today on the American-based World Net Daily web site. It concerns the resumption next week of direct Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations in Washington DC after a 20 month break, and in particular the role that the Obama administration is playing in that process. It also touches on the role Islam might play in his personal life and how that could be affecting his actions toward Israel and other issues. If you would like to give it a read, go to WND.com
